Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb.) Franco

Name justification:
The name of the genus is a compound word. The prefix pseudo- means false, Tsuga is the name of another genus of similar conifers, among them other firs.
The species was named after Archibal Menzies (1754-1842), Scottish botanist who went around the world on the ship Discovery. During his trip, he collected several plant specimens mainly of Australia origin.
